A huge thank-you to Amanda for sharing this moving story and for her ongoing support with our campaign. See below for how you can help too
Hi my name is Amanda. I have holidayed at Tin Can Bay a couple of times over the past three years and made three feedings to Mystique and his pod of dolphins.
Mystique made my life a lot happier and helped me heal as I was fighting cancer in 2007-2008. I made my first ever visit to see him in 2008 as my first wish was to see a wild dolphin and he touched my heart like no other animal has done before, so I would like to do what ever I can to stop this marina going ahead and wont stop till I have as many names as possible.
My heart skips a beat when I think of my mate Mystique having to move away from a place that he has lived in for so long. I am also deeply worried about all the marine wildlife at Tin Can Bay and the surrounding inlets.
I have started to collect signatures and need to know what the age limit is if there is one I have four children that adore Tin Can Bay and the abundance of wildlife there.
I have seen Bob Irwin on the TV talking about this and I think together we can make a stand.
Today people in Australia are always trying to make a quick dollar, we don't need the marina we already have one there.
Please let me help Mystique and his friends as he helped me when I needed help.
Please help Amanda and Bob to save the lives of the dolphins, dugong, turtles and the other wildlife that live in our waterways. You can help to spread the word by clicking on the email link and forwarding our message to all of your contacts, friends, family and work colleagues. Please also post a message to your Facebook friends via our link above.
As I am sure Amanda and many other visitors would agree the experience of interacting with and watching a dolphin in the wild is a far more enriching experience than finding them in a man made pool. Help keep Mystique and his pod safe and free.

Bob Irwin is the champion of this campaign. Very rarely does Bob ask for help.
G'day Everyone, I need your help. I need to show the world the amazing biodiversity and beauty of the Great Sandy Strait and what we'll be losing, should the [proposed] marina go ahead: the mangroves and the sea grass beds and the dolphins, dugong and turtles will be all gone.
Enough is Enough! This is no longer a local issue. These seagrass beds are the food source of the endangered dugongs and green turtles. The Great Sandy Strait has among the world's highest density of dugong, but their populations are dwindling worldwide; they are already extinct in the Maldives, Mauritious, and Taiwan. We need to make a stand and save some critical habitat for them now.
I will fight as long and as hard as necessary to preserve this pristine environment for our future generations - BUT - I can't do it alone. I'd like to present the opinions of one million people (who also feel that the building of this proposed marina will wreck the biodiversity of the magnificent environment forever), to our State and Federal governments. This is the nursery for the Great Barrier Reef and the Pacific Ocean. This is where life begins, where it all gets started. We shouldn't be interfering with it at all. Please join me in protecting this marine wilderness on behalf of the many varieties of wildlife that call this area 'home'.
Thank you for your support.

Cooloola’s pending World Heritage Listing status may be compromised if newly appointed Environment Minister Tony Burke approves the development of two large marinas.
Tin Can Bay, adjacent to Fraser Island, hosts one of few outstanding ecosystems on the east coast of Australia. Since 2004, the community has banded together in the fight against a powerful developer. There is now a second development application in the same small waterway subject to the EPBC process.
We need your help to apply pressure on the Federal government to provide real protection to this area. This is not a local issue. The Tin Can Bay region is unique, unspoilt and special. It is a perfect habitat for species that are threatened all over the world, and we need to make a stand and save some critical habitat for them.
